Supervisor training is a new requirement in the ANSI a92.22/,24 standards which go into effect December 2019.
A MEWP supervisor is a new term in the standards defined as a person “assigned by the user to monitor operator performance and supervise their workâ€.  The standard requires “all personnel that directly supervise MEWP operators shall receive training. Users shall ensure personnel that directly supervise MEWP operators are trained as defined in ANSI A92.24 Section 7.5.â€
Any company who has approved MEWP operators (personnel who operate a MEWP (loading, unloading, inspecting, sales demonstrations, or any form of use) must have a person “assigned by the user to monitor operator performance and supervise their work†and that person must receive supervisor training.Â
7.5Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Supervisor Training
Users shall ensure personnel that directly supervise MEWP operators are trained in the following:
a. proper selection of the correct MEWP for the work to be performed;
b. the rules, regulations, and standards that apply to MEWPs, including the provisions for safe use as defined in ANSI A92.22, training and familiarization, and the work being performed;
c. potential hazards associated with the use of MEWPs and the means to protect against identified hazards, and
d. the knowledge that the manufacturer’s operation manuals are an integral part of the MEWP and need to be stored properly in the weather-resistant compartment on the MEWP.
The eLearning version of the IPAF MEWPs for Managers course enables candidates to undertake the tuition in convenient sections and pass the online course at a time and place of their choosing, on compatible PCs and tablet devices. It uses sophisticated facial recognition across the online training and evaluation session to ensure the candidate’s identity and to prevent any attempt to obtain the qualification through fraudulent means.
