The American National Standards Institute approved the A92.20 Design, Calculations, Safety Requirements and Test Methods for Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), A92.22 Safe Use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) and A92.24 Training Requirements for the Use, Operation, Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) on November 20, 2018. Publication date will be December 10th, 2018 and the effective date will be December 2019.
It is our great pleasure to inform you that as of November 14th 2018, AMP Sales & Services, LLC is the only IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) approved training center in the United States offering operator training for Underbridge devices. Operators who successfully complete training will receive a PAL Card (Powered Access Licensed-Registration) which is recognized worldwide across industries as proof of platform operator training to the highest standard. The PAL Card is valid for 5 years and indicates the equipment the operator is licensed to operate.
AMP Sales & Services, LLC’s training facility is conveniently located in Bedford, Virginia. The facility has a state of the art training classroom along with a private training bridge. The hands on training allows operators to learn in a private and safe environment.
AMP Sales & Service, LLC is an IPAF-approved training center that offers training on vehicle-mounted MEWPs (1b) and vehicle-mounted Bridge Inspection and Maintenance devices (2b).
The (2b) categories denote a MEWP that can be operated from the chassis while the platform is extended. Vehicle-mounted bridge-inspection and maintenance devices are currently addressed by ANSI A92.8 and is one of four ANSI A92 standards that has been replaced with the new A92.20/.22/.24 due for publication on December 10th 2018.
The new standards will require anyone operating Underbridge Access Equipment to be trained and certified to do so. It states that your operators will need both classroom & hands on training. It also states that the hands on training must be done in a safe environment free from moving vehicles. Our state of the art classroom, dedicated UBIU (Snooper Truck) and private onsite bridge will give your operators the safest possible learning environment and fully compliant with the new ANSI A92 Standards.
According to the new standards, all training must be delivered by a qualified person who is experienced with the particular classification of MEWP on which training is being given. This qualified person must be knowledgeable about the laws, regulations, safe use practices, manufacturer’s requirements, recognition and avoidance of hazards as they relate to MEWPs. Our Director of UBIU Training is Mark Luft. Mark has 13 years of experience operating all categories of Underbridge Inspection Equipment. Utilizing years of technical expertise specific to Underbridge Inspection Equipment, Mark has developed a training program which emphasizes the Best Practice Methods for the safe operation of Under Bridge Inspection Units.
